It's not the best SSD, but it works. You don't know the financial situation of the OP... maybe that was all he/ she could afford. And at any rate... it's better than any mechanical drive.

Nice build but what made you go with that particular SSD? It's not bad per se... but for a little more money you could've gotten something a whole lot better. Nevertheless, this is one fantastic build, your son is lucky :)

Nice build! And dang that's a powerful cooler! I believe that the Kraken X61 from NZXT and the Nepton 280L from Cooler Master are the absolute kings of water cooling as of now. Also, that's too bad about the PSU. Have you considered Corsair or EVGA for your next replacement unit?

Thanks! I had originally planned on a 140mm exhaust, but there was a clearance issue with the 280mm rad, and I've simply been too lazy to pick up a 120mm lol

It may only be a 20% increase in performance, but that 20% makes worlds of difference when it comes to CPU intensive tasks. And no, I am not delusional.

Fantasic build sir! One question though: Why leave the hard drive cages in if you're only using an SSD?

It actually makes a huge difference in photo and video editing, as well as 3d modeling.

You have a GTX 970, yet you won't be doing any gaming??? Even if you were editing videos and wanted to offload some work onto the GPU a 970 would be a poor choic. Anyways still a nice build, +1
