I would recommend bumping the card up to the top slot so it has a full 16x slot available instead of an 8x/4x depending on the board.

Not in the slightest.

The "Stock" cooler of the 2700X is amazing, looks great and performs fine for me. See project hardline for the higher end watercooling. This system is not designed nor intended for that.

Yes! It's a 2x8Gb rated for 3000MHz, though with some tweaking i've pulled it to 16-16-16-16-36 from its original 16-18-18-18-38

I'm trying to convince myself to do sleeved cables but I'm happy with how it looks now. A lot of the extra cables are tucked in the shroud, but (not to sell out) this is an upgrade to project ultraviolet, which shows more of the management aspect.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "ASRock Z170 Extreme4+ vs. EVGA Z370 FTW"

  • 2 points

Well, if you're looking at the Z170 as said in the title it won't work.

Now if they are both Z370, personally the EVGA one. BIOS is way cleaner for OC, better company to deal with in case of bad things, and the super solid EVGA Build Quality. Now there is no RGB on the EVGA, though it is focused on raw performance over flashy lights.

Even though this is from the X299 Dark page, it summarizes EVGA Boards on all intel chipsets.

Some motherboard companies believe it is enough to tell you that their boards are fast. Others put enough RGB LEDs on their boards to make you think racing lights will make your board go faster. EVGA could have designed a board like those...or it could engineer the X299 Dark - a motherboard line renowned for being the top choice of the world's best overclockers. A motherboard that has already broken 12 World Records…so far:

I would NOT trust this personally. It is just too sketchy when a website asks you to use their APP when you're viewing on a PC. Too many red flags for me.

If you really need to tweak timings/Speed its in the BIOS. Though going outside the XMP is not reccomended as it can be quite unstable and tricky to understand
