I would recommend the 1600 over the 2600x because

  • It is a lot cheaper

  • Can be overclocked to within a few % of the 1600x

  • And 3rd Gen Ryzen will be releasing within a few months more than likely and it would be better to save money now and upgrade later

Steam has a monopoly on the market at the moment.

Not exactly. There are platforms like Origin that are still popular. With all the copies of games like Battlefield EA sells it is a somewhat competitive platform.

Forum Topic "1179 USD used gaming computer good or nah?"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 1 day ago

Well it depends. For a lot of games an OC i5 will outperform an R5. It really depends on what they are playing tho.

And if they wanted to they can upgrade to something like a 7800x which is basically a 8700k for a similar price.

Both option are good. It just depends on what the OP wants to do.

Uh they can get up to an 18 core i9 on that socket. What do you mean about an upgrade path.

Also for $60 cheaper you can get the r5 1600 which once overclocked is almost the same as the 2600x

Forum Topic "The Sony Playstation 5 Was Just Announced"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 1 day ago

Well. I can run games at 8k with my Vega 56. So that's not saying much. Granted the games are either older titles or I would need to lower all settings to the lowest but still possible to hit 30fps.

My point is just because you can run games at 8k doesn't mean it will be a good experience. And unless the PS5 costs a lot more then the standard $400-$500 for a console at launch, I am going to make a guess that 8k will be under very limited circumstances. Until I get benchmarks I am extremely skeptical of these type of claims. Because with current hardware for 8k to be viable a 2080 is probably the minimum you would need to get 30fps at decent settings.

But hey if Sony releases the PS5 for a decent price and it can do 8k at decent settings, than I will stick to PC because that will mean we have hardware just as capable for a similar price.

Yeah October-December of 2020 is my guess.

On a different subject Halo Infinite would make a great launch title for the next Xbox.

Forum Topic "RX 580 vs ......?"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 2 days ago

The 1660 is more powerful than the 580. And the only way you are going to get even close to the 6gb limit on the 1660 is playing at 4k, which you aren't. On average the 1660 is about 20-30% faster but that will depend on the game.

As far as overclocking there are plenty if tutorials on youtube. I wouldn't worry about frying anything if you just follow those. The 1600 should be able to hit 3.6-3.8ghz easy.

Forum Topic "RX 580 vs ......?"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 2 days ago

True and if they are willing to spend a bit more initially than that would be better.

Forum Topic "RX 580 vs ......?"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 2 days ago

For $40 more you can get a `1660. It is more powerful and better price to performance. You can get that money by going with a 1600 instead of a 2600x. Just overclock the 1600 and it will be almost the same as far as performance.

Interesting. You have given me an idea.

I did out a hole with the pick,I place a directional charge, stand behind the tank of water to absorb most of the impact and repeat until I am out.

I am not making an offer.

Is the price listed the price you want? I assume not. If you sell the entire system You could get $400-$500. If you part it out then $80 for the i5, $40 for the MOBO, $40 for the RAM, $100 for the 970.

Similar with this one, but this one is within budget at normal MSRP anyway.

For food and water I would have the needed medical(feeding tube and water injected directly into my body) supplies to sustain my body in a coma. And for the last item a pill that puts me into a medically induced coma, but only for 30 days.

Does this comply with the rules?

EDIT: Also can the room be a bit bigger. Like 7' by 7'. Because I wouldn't even be able to lay down in a 5' by 5' room.

I did take a look at all of the comments on OP's post and I would recommend that if you truly want to help then you might want to make a substantial and useful comment on the post and not just pick apart one word/ sentence of another users post.

People have already covered what I would have had to say. The only time Apple was mentioned the guy who posted it was spot on.

For reputable brands you will be looking for the big name brands like Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Apple, and ASUS.

Apple? Overall their quality mediocre and their price to performance is terrible, and their customer support is totally garbage. And the fact they can't even fix their own products half the time. And when they can they charge you almost as much to buy new.

For PC 1 I would say $300-350. The main reason to get that would be the LGA 1366 motherboard and the RAM.

For PC 2 $150. Can't do much more than basic web browsing.

The Comptia A+ certification is the standard hardware and software certification that will show any employer you can know how to do most basic IT tasks. They are good for getting into the IT field.

The certification us composed of 2 exams. The latest revision of the exams being 1001 and 1002. So pick up study material for those.

Yes it is worth your time. A+ is an almost globally accepted certification that will get you jobs you otherwise couldn't. And once you get that getting other certs like network+ or security+ will help expand your career in the IT field.

I am currently studying for A+ certification. But I am young. It should be easier for somebody like you to get a job in the IT field with an A+ cert than somebody like me. Simply due to job experience.

They will likely give you either a b-stock or refurbished 380. There is a chance they will give you a newer GPU like the rx 570, but it really all depends on what they actually have. Either way they would rather give you a GPU than money so you will likely end up with a good GPU. Because they can't really give you anything less than a 380.

Forum Topic "need suggestions for CAD"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

you can buy a gtx 1660ti cheaper than that videocard and i think its much better

But this isn't for gaming. It is for CAD. And that Quadro will be better than a 2080 or maybe even a 2080ti for most CAD.

Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 4GB"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

Well you can try Ebay. Ironically an r9 380 would be a good option for that price since it can do 1080p no problem. A gtx 750 ti will do 720p and 1080p. You can also try r/hardwareswap.

One thing did come to mind. Your GPU may still be under warranty. Even if it isn't you could try contacting the manufacturer as long as you have proof of purchase and see if they will do anything. It wouldn't hurt and you may end up getting a new GPU out of it for nothing.

Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 4GB"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

Well an rx 570 can handle 1080p high 60fps no problem. They go for $130.

As far as selling the 380 I would say $25ish. A GPU that can't do gaming at all isn't worth a lot.

Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 4GB"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

but I don' t think it's compatible with the whole system.

Just see if that PSU has the cable for the 380. And if so use the Antec to power the 380 then run a benchmark like Unigine Super Position for a while and see if it crashes. If so then you will have ruled out the PSU as a problem.

Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 4GB"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

If the driver isn't the problem than likely something else is. The GPU could be failing. But try to rule as many other thing out as possible first. How long have you had that PSU?

Forum Topic "Which one is better?"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 2 points 8 days ago

Depends on what you are going for. For high refresh rate gaming(144hz) the 9600k and 1660ti would be better. But for higher resolution and better graphics the(1440-4k) the 9400f and 2060 would be better.

Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 4GB"

Nullarc77 4 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

Try removing the side panel off your case and see if that helps.

Or if it's a driver issue try reverting to an old driver.

Another thing is the power supply may be the problem. What kind of PSU is it and how old is it? I know the 380 is a somewhat power hungry card and if the power supply is failing then it could be overloading that.

As far as price goes they seem to be selling $50-$80 on ebay. Although if you can't resolve the problem then you would probably need to sell it for less, since the buyer would need to figure out whether it's a problem with the GPU or a problem with your system specifically.

Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 4GB"

For stuff that actually uses those cores yes AMD would be better. But for strictly gaming Intel is better. In gaming core speed is almost always more important than core count. That is why a 7700k beats an r7 2700x. The 2700x has double the cores and threads but the IPCs and clockspeed on the 7700k are much better making it better for strictly gaming. So if they were streaming yes AMD would be better. But they are just gaming.

On a side note the 9600k is similar in performance to the 7700k. This really has nothing to do with the above but just to give you a comparison.
