Actually, the cooler works pretty well so far, I was hesitant to purchase it because of the known issues with this product in the past, and I only saw 1 review for the white version on Amazon and nowhere else.
I really wanted a white 360 aio, so I bit the bullet and gave it a try. Hoping nothing happens down the road, but so far performance wise, it does a pretty good job, I was using a Fractal design S36 (which is a really good cooler and had a thicker radiator) before this, and I'm not seeing any loss in performance, even though this radiator is slightly thinner. Overclocks are stable and fine.
It's advertised for 500W heat dissipation and so far it seems to be doing its job. The review I saw complained that the fans were loud, but under full load, it isn't any louder than the ML120 Pros that I had on there before, so overall I'm happy with it. And it looks great, fingers crossed it stays ok.
ha ha yes, I bought those decks from a production house that was transitioning to server based, and it all works and all and I have a ton of DVCAM and BETACAM tapes that need to be digitized and I kept telling myself yes I bought the gear to do it so I can get rid of all the tapes, but its been almost 2 years and I still haven't had time to get around to it.
I have not tried the R20 cinenbench, I know it works a lot different under the hood, I just haven't had time. I live more in Maya these days than in C4D, so when I do bench and tune for performance, as long as Maya does what I want it to do, I let it be. I'd have to re-set it up if this were a full time C4D rig. Probably waiting for Threadripper 3 at the end of this year to do a balanced Arnold/Redshift render build for both C4D and Maya.
I did try the 2990WX for a while and with both Titans, I was reaching near parity in terms of render time if I had set a scene up for Redshift or duped the same scene and re-textured for Standard. Physical will always take longer but on the 2990WX, it was chewing through it super nice. I gave up on it though because IPC and overall I couldn't get near the clock speeds I wanted, and I could feel the difference when using it for anything other than rendering. So hoping threadripper 3 will change that.

I had it sent out to a shop that does power coating for metals, PC cases wasn't a thing for them, but as long as it was metal the process to them was the same.
I wish I had the $$ for a Maingear system instead, this was the next best thing.

I've actually tried ultra wide several times, but always came back to this tri Mon setup because you see more of the environment. But trade off is even on the Titan xp, I can only get about 45-55 fps depending on the game at 7680x1600p. The Titan is "borrowed" from my rendering rig that is down now while I install a Hardline loop.
Actually, no I just got lucky with the silicon lottery, on a different board I was able to get it to 4.8 stable on all cores, but this case has less airflow so I dialed it back.

it wouldn't do what I need to do for rendering, z390 tops out at 16 threads and not enough PCIE lanes.
I needed room to add more GPUs down the line.

depends on what you're going for, but in my case, I'm trying to prioritize speed performance in Autodesk Maya, then CPU rendering, over anything else, and Maya loves frequency and IPC.
So I need both high clocks and as many threads as I can get. Threadripper 2 has more threads for Arnold rendering, but lower clocks.
I'm waiting to see if Z399 with the rumored 22 cores that is overclockable releases, which I hope it does.
So I'd be looking for a board that can really deliver overclocks, right now I'm looking at the ASUS ROG Omega that just came out, or the Gigabyte Aorus x299 master,
but it's one of those situations where the ROG board costs almost as much as I paid for the 7900X, so for right now, no sense buying such a nice board when the chip isn't that great.
Not great in the sense of 10 cores / 20 threads doesn't quite go far enough for 3D work, I did get lucky with the silicon lottery in this case.
When a nicer chip comes out, then the ROG board with its huge VRM heatsink, 16 power phase design, throw that into a hardline loop. I should be able to really crank the overclocks, in theory anyway.

I saw yours too, man love what you did, the enermax fans and your res mount is nicely executed, i'll be switching to a hardline setup soon, don't know much about how to do it but will take the time to learn. Yes everyone's good feedback about the cable runs under the desk have inspired me to go fix it, it's on my list now. thanks for checking it out.

Yes! I agree, but I'd need longer cables to clean it up, and I got to the point of saying eh screw it. I prob will clean it up at some point now though, my OCD will kick in
