sorry for such a late response but a few years later and its still holding up strong :)
I had to do some digging but here is the link to the exact one i bought almost 3 years ago. Setup was a dream, looks great, easy to use remote and still going strong: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00X9IZW6C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
oh geeze haha yeah that'll make a diference.
i believe they are the white magnetic led light strips from cablemod. And yes they are bright enough to provide all the light i need at night for typing or writing. Here is a link: https://cablemod.com/product/cablemod-widebeam-magnetic-led-strip-60cm-white/
Thank you kindly my good sir, i do it for the people like you!
Unfortunately for you i got it at a local gardening shop. However, search online for fake bonsai trees and i'm sure you'll find a nice one for under 50$.
Karlby is as stable as it gets, very heavy like 100 pound slab probably. it is not attached to anything. you are correct the legs are drilled to the white alex drawers. However those same legs have a nice rubber topper on them which provides extremely good grip so the counter doesn't budge.
Holding up really well, arm rests and reclining is great if you just wanna watch something. my only gripe is the price and the stiffness of the seat. i thought it would break in a little more than it has cause after a few hours it becomes slightly uncomfortable.
Hey thanks! Yes i did put i matte black backplate on my GPU because it does not come with one which surprised me seeing how expensive it is. you'd think they would add one. however i got mine relatively cheap from the guys at v1tech. here is a link to the exact one i have: https://www.v1tech.com/shop/backplates/blankbackplates/
But i need the backwards hat to maintain my street cred. My PC got the nerds to like me but the thugs... not so much.
ayyyy thanks! it was an honor as i've been watching him since he hit 100k subs.
The majority of the cables are held up by the IKEA Signum Rack which i picked up for 15$ in combination with a fair bit of velcro cable ties from amazon listed here: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001E1Y5O6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
it is a BenQ 24-inch LED 1ms Gaming Monitor #RL2455HM here is a link to it on amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/BenQ-24-inch-Gaming-Console-Monitor/dp/B007HSKSMI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488968294&sr=8-2&keywords=benq+monitor
Happy to help! A sit/stand would be a great idea, i wanted to do one myself but unfortunately it never made it to the final setup. A word of advice though, make sure all your cords have enough slack so that raising and lowering the desk doesn't cause tension or even the unplugging of any of your cables.
Thanks for the kind words!
Honestly for what i do and the items i own, it is spacious enough to hold everything i could want with the exception of large external speakers and possibly an excessively big tower case, however seeing as i use a headset and a mid size tower it is not a problem for me. i suppose i could ditch the bonsai and a few other nik-nacks to make room for speakers but its all up to you. Also i'm not 100% sure on this but i believe you can get custom slabs of counter top cut at IKEA for not all that much more. Just remember to measure everything ahead of time to save yourself a headache!
No prob, and best of luck!
yes it's "custom"... i ordered this blank matte black one from the guys at v1tech here is a link if you're interested: http://www.v1tech.com/product-category/backplates/all-backplates/
and just to confirm, this model of the 1070 does not come with any backplate at all.
i will upload a pic of my most recent additions... its not much but i added a hook for my favorite hat above my monitor and picked up a boom arm for my snowball mic. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! i got my backplate from the guys at v1tech, here is a link: http://www.v1tech.com/
It is a blank matte black backplate that rests securely on top of your gpu via magnets that align with the circuit board. there is a small cutout though in the event you want to sli or crossfire and this particular backplate cost me 25$ USD plus shipping.
I purchased that backplate separately from the guys at V1Tech.
it's called the: Single LCD Monitor Desktop Mount / Stand, Black Deluxe with Gas Spring for 1 Screen up to 24", Model STAND-V001B by VIVO. But that's a bit of a mouthful so heres an amazon canada link: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00EQ7HTG6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Honestly the performance difference you would be looking at is very minimal no matter which way you do it ( 5C at the most). However i did it this way mostly because i don't like the look of fans on top of the radiator and i wanted to hide them.
Thanks! With stock fans in it can get quite loud, however i swapped out the stock fans for corsair ml 120 which are somewhat quieter plus i use corsair link and have my profile set to balanced so 90% of the time its just a slight hum that you can pretty much ignore. That being said almost all fans/coolers are audible under load and if your not hearing the fan you will be hearing the air they are moving.
Thank you! I suppose in extended tasks that are very demanding such as rendering a large file this may cause some concern but at the moment my temperatures almost never exceed 60C (cpu + gpu). That being said i did upgrade the stock fans in my h100i to the more powerful corsair ml 120's so that may help. Also i wanted to maintain neutral air pressure in the case so i decided to stick with a 2 intake 2 exhaust layout.
I can't honestly say because i've never worked in one but i have heard plenty so let me give you a quick run down of my opinion. They are both unbelievably well built / designed cases but i do believe the phanteks case may be the better of the two due to some fine details. For one i believe most if not all cut-outs are grommeted which i suppose is unnecessary but still nice to have. Second, they incorporate a very nice RGB hub next to the aux port on the front panel that can switch the color of the power button as well as any connected led strips at the touch of a button. Lastly i personally just prefer the overall look of the enthoo case and think having the usb / mic / headphone ports on the front of the case rather than the top like the s340 elite is a smarter decision. keep in mind though you will have a harder time keeping the build looking clean simply because both sides of the phanteks case are glass which means your cable management better be on point plus it is lacking any sort of feature such as the elites steel bar which helps immensely when dealing with your bigger 24 pin connector and usb 3.0. All in all if your willing to pay the roughly $80 premium and are confident in your cable management skills go for the phanteks case, however if you want an easy experience, a minimalistic look, and are tight on cash you simply cant go wrong with the elite. here is a great review of the phanteks case if you want a second opinion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQfRDSGlNqI
Thanks for the kind words, i appreciate it! if you need any help / advice with your setup feel free to ask.
Not a problem ;)
i got them from the fine folks at CableMod here is a link to thier product page: https://store.cablemod.com/products/
keep in mind they have different cables for different power supplies e.g. - i have their E series cables because i have a evga power supply it differs for corsair and seasonic etc.
Tiny tree is receiving some big love!
The case improves upon its highly rated little brother and let me tell you the $$$ premium is definitely worth it. It is a dream to work in with plenty of space, cut-outs, tie down posts, and even some convenient cable clips at the back to clamp down and route multiple cables at once! Add on the pre installed standoffs and abundance of thumbscrews and you've got in my opinion one of the best cases on the market right now and an excellent choice for beginners! As far as airflow goes it does very well, consistently low temperatures and relatively silent i recommend setting the 2 front fans to intake and the top and rear fans to exhaust and you should be set.
Thanks! The cables were from CableMod, here's a link to thier products page: https://store.cablemod.com/products/
i'm hoping black Friday will be good to me this year and offer me an ultra wide deal i cant refuse, however i don't really have a need for more than 1 monitor at the moment so you might not see 2 for a while unfortunately.
why thank you, fell free to let me know when you complete your build i'm always excited to see what other people are up to on this site! (And stay away from my bonsai :P haha)
that could be really cool but your gonna have to get creative with hiding those cables because that wont be easy, best of luck!
added the desk section you were asking for, you're welcome :P
sure i can, feels kinda weird though considering i made it for myself years ago and its literally just my name in graffiti style but what the heck. Glad you like it: https://s16.postimg.org/6kyit0aud/graff_wallpaper_no_paint_05_03_2015_09_20_01_31.jpg
Thanks a lot, i'm not surprised they are all great and popular products, hope to see your build sometime soon, best of luck!
i used 8 BQLZR Stainless Steel Kitchen Adjustable Feet Round Furniture Legs courtesy of amazon.ca! they did the trick, seem to be very sturdy and were relatively cheap.
it's the razor blackwidow ultimate with clicky keys (not the stealth edition), not RGB unfortunately however it has been a great keyboard for the last few years, zero problems!
im reading it right now buddy, the cables were provided by CableMod. it is a basic cable kit made for evga power supplies and comes with included cable combs heres a link: https://store.cablemod.com/products/?filter_product-category=basic-cable-kits
No you are awesome, thnx!
the one on my desk is called the ALED LIGHT Led Strip 5M/16.4FT 300 SMD 3528 RGB. and i picked it up from amazon.ca however if you cant find it just grab whatever one has the highest reviews they are all very similar and as long as you get enough length you should get a very similar result for under $30 CDN. Or if you mean the one in my pc, it is the white magnetic 60cm widebeam led light strip from CableMod for $20CDN.
I couldn't agree more, and deciding between black/red or white/black nearly drove me mad! Oh well cant wait to see what you do with it just hope you don't make me envy that color scheme haha. Trust me you wont be disappointed!
i tried my best to organize and route what i could with duck tape and cable ties but it comes to a point where there's just too many cables and not enough rack to hold them cleanly however thanks for noticing the effort :)
it's a combination of 2 white alex drawers from IKEA with a 72" Karlby counter top also from IKEA raised up by 8 BQLZR Stainless Steel Kitchen Adjustable Feet Round Furniture Legs from amazon.ca!
Glad you liked it :)
Believe me, that will be the next thing i upgrade but for now i am happy and hoping for some prices to drop on the high end monitors such as the Acer predator, because my bank account is still recovering from the gut punch it just received lol.
Your absolutely right i fell in love with what he did in his most recent setup tour and definitely took a lot of inspiration from him. I contemplated several different color combinations but in the end nothing looked quite as good as white and wood in my opinion.
Thank you kindly i suppose i could add a little segment but for now i can tell you that the desk is a combination of two white Alex drawers from IKEA with a 72" Karlby kitchen counter top from IKEA as well resting on 8 BQLZR Stainless Steel Kitchen Adjustable Feet Round Furniture Legs from amazon.ca! The desk is solid as can be and looks even better in person!
