Yotsuba&! is a slice of life manga based on a small girl who lives with her father. The "creepy box people" is just a girl in a robot costume. I'd recommend looking into the manga.
Absolutely great part selection. Hopefully we'll get those pictures of the finished build.
i once knew a guy who was able to actually run minesweeper at a full buttery smooth 30fps. it was pretty crazy.
There's building your own PC then there's what you did. You went above and beyond what some people do to make their own custom PC. +1000000 to aesthetics. looks beautiful.
Oh my god I really love this build. You made an AMAZING build. It looks absolutely beautiful and the parts you chose are great too. I really loved your very detailed description and pictures. Great documentation. Everything about this was amazing. I'm glad I took the time out of my day to read through your whole description. I think I'm gonna have to change my dream build to this one. I don't know what else to say. +1 for everything. Wish I could give you more.
Whoa whoa whoa buddy. Not gta 5. Only game i can think of right now that doesn't get 60 fps on a 970 card right now.
Haha. Yeah the GTX 970 outperforms it in just about every benchmark but it's not always by a lot and sometimes negligible. I thought you could use a 290x so you wouldn't run across the 970's 3.5 GB associated problems.
Silent as (a jet engine)? haha just kidding. Did you consider getting the XFX 290x instead? You have a powerful enough psu for it. Nice build by the way. +1 for looks and generally being a good build.
you used three though haha. Yeah i thought the same thing. made me think about something along the lines of a mass effect theme
I want it. I want your build. I want in and around my mouth. I dont care what components you used. It's too beautiful for me to care. That custom water loop ooooh myyyy godddddddd. +10/10 it was ok -ign
I like your review for your power supply too by the way haha. all my base are belong to you.
are you asking what cpu cooler he's using or asking him to get an aftermarket one? Thats the stock cpu cooler that comes with the cpu. Id suggest the owner of this build to get an aftermarket cooler. some noctua would do very very good.
very nice build if you're gonna use it for gaming and Photoshop.
Not gonna lie that case looks like trash. Well it looks like trash on its parts page. However from your setup pics, it looks amazing! Digging that case and purple leds!!!
Were you trying to go for a white/black theme? It would have looked amazing if all or most of the leds in your case were white. Also yeah I'd watercool that baby up. I also have an h440 case and the GPU gets pretty warm. Oh, amazing build by the way.
Using mutant33's example of why he didn't buy a gtx 980 or two 970s (Since I was going to buy one card now, a 12%-19% increase in performance didn't justify the 40% or $200 increase in price.), then why would he WASTE his money on a small increase in performance which he will most likely not see unless he likes to regularly video edit, or use 30+ tabs on Chrome? Stop trying to rationalize his mistakes. More RAM isn't always a good thing if you're just going to throw your money out of the window. Yeah you can say that he might need it sometime in the future, but not for this build. By the time he needs all 16GBS of RAM for playing games, hell probably need a complete upgrade, that is if he wants to play on the highest settings like what I assume he intended to do.
You're right. I apologize for forgetting that you already messed up and that you cannot in no way return something you have already bought. Your concern about how you used your money on this build became a public topic when you decided to post this. Hyperthreading comes with the trade off that in most games you'll lose performance but hey at least you can play Dragon Age: Inquisition with slightly higher performance for 200$. At least your gtx 970 has you covered up with all those 3.5GBs.
Just because you can have more of something, it doesn't mean you need it or in cases like RAM improve performance. More RAM doesn't really mean anything past 8GBs unless you ACTUALLY do video rendering and past 16GBs you wont see much performance increase. So yeah they wont actually need more anytime right now. Maybe in ten years but by then this computer would need a replacement. If anything he NEEDS a better a GPU because that's what bottlenecking his build by a lot. At higher resolutions like 1440p a gtx 980 would be better with an i5 4690k because a better GPU would improve performance more than an i7 4790k. Hyperthreading isn't going to help with gaming at all. I'm ACTUALLY trying to maximize his money per performance ratio. If you're going to come here and tell me I'm wrong at least give good reasons, don't give me BS,
Good suggestion. That works too.
I think you went a little too far with the CPU and the 16GBs of ram. Unless you plan on doing video editing and rendering you went a little too far. An i5 4690k and two 4GB sticks of RAM would have been fine for gaming at 1080p and higher. The money you could have saved, could have been used to buy a gtx 980 card instead. Other than that everything looks fine and dandy in this build. Practice on your wire management by the way. haha
Under a heavy load, you can hear the fans running. It's not loud but if you're in a very quiet place you'll hear it. Other than that they're pretty quiet. I'd recommend an h440.
It's doing fine with the current PSU. Like mlach said, if I were to add another one, which i will one day, I'd probably need a 750w
I really love how the h440s all look. blue/black is a good choice.
