I just did my first build ever also. Nice job on the parts selection and the build, looks great man. +1
On a muscle car...definitely manual. I think it's the only way to go. On other cars automatic is fine, convenient.
RT model, had to get the 6 speed manual.
Been tempted to. The connection and multiplayer issues on xbox are horrendous. But when it works it can be fun.
Yes let that be a lesson to all sports teams, if you want to win you should sign Lebron James. Doesn't matter what sport.
He would make an amazing tight end for the Lions. You guys will have your work cut out for you with Megatron retiring and Suh gone as well. Oh and then there is the fact that you have Matt Stafford, basically an automatic "we will never win the superbowl" type of QB. Good luck though!!
+2 for the build. -1 for the Lions. Equals out to a +1 from me. Nice work.
This is great, thank you.
Even text based games from the 1980s?
I love it. I wish you had more cables laying around. Screw these guys and their nit picking. Great build.
Hertz IS everything...they will pick you up.
Whichever card you decide to go with, make sure you get the correct supported monitor. AMD is for Freesync monitors. Nvidia is for G-Sync monitors. They don't mix and match. Trying to do one with the other will make your monitor revert back to V-sync which can cause screen tearing.
I've heard nothing but good things about the Dell 1440p monitor that you are considering. I'm also going to get that monitor for my build, and a GTX 1070.
"Great kid...don't get cocky"
Nice...I'm sure it will work great for him. I wonder why he would disregard the advice of an expert, its not like you are a car salesman trying to get him with all these unnecessary upgrades.
Yes! This is the monitor I am going to get when I build. How do you like it? Are the colors good? Gameplay good? Etc? +1 from me.
What's inaccurate about it? It was written by someone who works in the industry, and some people in the comment section also work in the industry and are correlating his facts. Seems pretty legit to me. Its why I'm buying an Nvidia card and G-sync monitor...that and about 3 months of research on my own.
I'll be going with the GTX 1070 for this reason alone: G-sync. I've been spending about 3 months doing research on monitors while I wait to build my PC and I've found that G-sync is extremely better than Freesync. If AMD and Nvidia were to share their Sync technologies and make them compatible in the future, I would probably go with an AMD card because of the price, but for now I'll go with the $379 GTX 1070. Its a lot better than the 600+ 980Ti card I was planning on buying 3 months ago before the new cards dropped, I'm happy with the sub $400 price point.
Basically...Freesync is an AMD proprietary thing (it only works with AMD). G-Sync is only for Nvidia. They wont mix and match. This means that if you use a Freesync monitor with an Nvidia card, the monitor will just fall back on V-sync technology which can cause screen tearing. There is a really good article about it on Reddit, a guy goes into extreme detail about all of the different types of syncs and how they work, etc. Its on the /r/buildapc thread. Title: Let's talk about V-Sync, Free-Sync, G-Sync, Adaptive-Sync, and Fast-Sync. I suggest you check it out.
Nice build +1. And story time...this reminds me of about 8 years or so ago when I played WoW really consistently. We had a raiding guild and my guild master decided to partner up with another guild for larger raids since we only had around 18-19 regulars in ours. The other guild we were partnered up with had a guild master who was a 70 year old woman (I don't know her exact age but she was old). She was a fire mage, and her #2 guy was a 70 year old dude, who was a holy paladin. They were both pretty bad, but their guild members were decent. We carried them along through raids and such, and we weren't hardcore so it didn't matter we were just having fun.
But the time came that we were raiding Alar, the fire bird, and of course fire mages did 0 damage to Alar. This lady refused to respect to another damage source because she "didn't want to", and we spent about 3 months trying to kill Alar because she literally did 0 damage, just stood around still shooting fireballs and who knows what. It was kind of funny, and kind of frustrating. Anyway, that's the only time I played games with a Grandma...but I think its cool that yours is into games. Happy gaming!
Awesome info thanks man! Great build btw. +1 from me
Nice build. But you are a little.....eccentric is the word I will go with. Oh, and that's one hell of a hitchhikers thumb. +1 from me.
How is the network card working for you? I'm thinking of getting the same one but I want to know if its worth it.
Looks like you have nice peripherals too, show a picture or two of your complete game setup. +1
Yeah I agree with your points. Especially about the Freesync monitors being much cheaper, I've noticed that across the board. I think I'm planning on building in about 2 months so we will see if the prices normalize and how the benchmarks are looking.
idk who that is
Got my +1. How do you like the Dell monitor? I'm thinking of getting that exact same monitor in my build. What games do you play on it and how well do they run? How's input lag? Do you have any negatives on it? Haha, sorry for all the questions.
I am actually seriously debating going with a 1070 and a G-sync monitor...or a Rx480 8gb version and a Freesync monitor. Both monitors I am looking at are 1440p 144hz, and are exactly the same price. Its just the video card that would be slightly cheaper. Any thoughts? I hear that G-sync is really good and haven't heard much about Freesync.
I saw someone on the completed build page post a score of 19000+...
Nice build. I always like when someone goes as far as to do a custom paint job. Looks super clean, maybe put up a few pics of the overall gaming battlestation.
Would you really invest that much time into it? Lets say you could do 5 upvotes per second which would be extremely unlikely because of the lag of the upvote system. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. If this were the case you could upvote it 300 times in a minute, 18000 times in an hour, 432000 times in a day. It would take you 2.3 days of non stop clicking the upvote button. Are you up for this?
Give him a high fore...with your foreheads.
Good info and I will do some research on the model I'm looking at. Thanks again.
Thanks. What numbers should I look at to determine the input lag of a monitor? All monitors should have something in the specs to show this right?
Its not so much about seeing it with your eye as it is feeling it in game with fast paced demanding games. However, did you know that typing in bold letters makes people take notice?
Well the thing I am debating on if the IPS panels are good for gaming response time, as far as when you click the mouse and the gun (or whatever) responds to your click on screen. 1ms response time is the best you can get. As far as IPS panels looking ok, yeah they look much better than TN panels they have deeper colors and wider viewing angels. But that is the trade off I guess.
This is very good advice, and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help!
Sorry...here are the model numbers I am looking at.
27" is the Dell S2716DG /
34" is the LG 34UM57
I've already seen a 980Ti on a website not to be named, MSI gold edition 980Ti for 379 bucks. Pretty awesome deal if you ask me. I'd say that they will all be dropping to around this price point to get rid of stock and make room for Pascal.
More pics is always nice, and if this is really a 1070 build its one of the first ones I've seen on pcp.
That's good advice thank you. After a lot more deliberating I think I'm sticking with the Dell S2716DG, it just seems to have everything I want in a monitor for a fair price.
No idea. The way massdrop works is that the website tries to negotiate a discount with the manufacturer but since this product is brand new and demand is high they probably couldn't get a discount on it. Canadians and Europeans can purchase it there however and apparently the card is going for over 500 in their countries so it's a good deal for them.
No they aren't...the drop just opened and the price is 449.00 for the 1070 founders edition. It's active right now meaning you can buy it and they will ship it to you.
Great build, looks very nice. Does it have an open port hole that is easily accessible for a lone rebel to infiltrate and destroy your 1080 and cpu? You might want to cover that up.
There is a Kingston HyperX Savage 960GB SSD on Massdrop right now for 287 bucks. Link: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/kingston-hyperx-savage-960gb-ssd
Why is it a must for you? Just curious. Are you a pro gamer? I'm looking at new monitors also and I have been looking at some that are 144hz, I felt like that was a huge deal but after watching some reviews and talking to friends the 60-100hz monitors seem sufficient. Supposedly the 144hz only really makes a difference for like the top pros who are competing on stage etc.
Dude, nice turn dial phone on the wall. Also...nice build looks like its going to last you a very long time.
The 1080 will outperform the 480 by a long shot, so if you have the money for the 1080 then no need to wait for the 480. What is this obsession with "waiting" all of a sudden? Now people want others to wait for a inferior card to come out? That's ridiculous.
I'm in the same boat as you. Getting a 1070 and wanted a sweet monitor with 1440p, 144hz, 1ms, etc...that would sync up well with the Nvidia card. I chose the Dell S2716DG and I read really good reviews on it. Now just waiting to get home and put the build together, pretty excited.
I am going with the 1070 and Dell S2716DG monitor...looks like a great combination for awesome gaming and you wont need the 1080 unless you are running 4k or multiple monitors at 1440p. Just stick with the 1070 and put that extra money you save into the monitor. Good luck!
When you build a work of art like this...do you leave the case open all the time, as it is in the pictures? Is it mostly for taking to gaming workshops and fairs? I'd like to see some pictures of it set up along with the rest of your rig, in your "battlestation". Looks amazing, nice job.
