Both cards perform pretty much the same. There are some games like fortnite and overwatch where nvidia performs better, and I've found that GTAV really likes amd cards. Really you should factor in what games you are going to play into your graphics card decision and do some research and look at benchmarks. Personally I would save up some pennies and get yourself a used 1070ti or 1080 since those cards seem to be a sweet spot for 1080p 144hz gaming with no problem. I bought my 1070ti from a miner on ebay and it is working just fine for the little over a month that I have had it.

You could probably get better ram for around the same price. Just was trying to prove a point, also if you are willing to go used you can get a 1070ti for 300-350. I got my Asus ROG Strix 1070ti for 340 used.

So do featured guides ever change? Like this one has been up on the front page for a little over a month. Personally I would go with this build I put together. (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r3RpV6). Just due to the fact that you get a better gpu for only about 20 dollars more. Yes this build doesn't have as much storage, but you could probably easily get a 2tb drive for around the same price as that 1tb I selected. There is NOTHING wrong with the pc ThoughtA has put together here, it would be able to chew through modern games no problem, but I would opt for a 1070ti/1080 and less storage if it meant getting more performance out of my hardware.
