Thats the reason. I solved the NES heat problem with holes on the top and side.....
For my use its ok, I only have some small stereo speakers on it....no problems...
Nice build man.
I also had heat problems at the beginning. I'm sure your cpu cooler is near the top of the nes case so he coudnt exchange enough air. I decided to get some small holes on the top and side and masked them with some classic NES figures. This APU has much power so you have to get compromises.
After that I also can play games with 65W TDP without problems. For streaming and other multimedia I set my NES to 45W, thats much enough and the temps don't get over about 45°C under full load. It works great since a while and all kind of NES, SNES, SEGA and Sony Emulators run great.
The case fans are also necessary but the most cooling effect you get with optimizing the cpu coolers air flow. Maybe this helps solving the problem...
Sorry, my nintendo inhales this build....
At first I also wanted to take the A8-7600 but at last I take the A10 because I think to me that the NES has to stay like he is for a long time and the price difference was only 28€ at the time I buyd it. The speed difference is not so much I think.
That AMD has the better APU's especially for gaming is also my opinion. In the late 90s I startet with an AMD Athlon Thunderbird, first with 900 then with 1400Mhz ;-) and so I stayed buying AMD CPU's till today.
Nice build. Many case fans for an A8 ;-) It will freece in it ;D
My A10-7800 build has to be happy with to small 6cm case fans, but on a TDP of 65W he comes nearly to the limit.
Maybe the Noctua NH-D15 / D14 or the be quiet dark rock pro 3? For less money a scythe mugen 4 or a mugen max? There are many good aircoolers....I have the Cooler Master V8 GTS. He is not the best for the price but he looks awesome...;-) I cool my FX8320 @4,45Ghz to 58°C under full load with prime 95 over an our....@4,6Ghz he gets up to 61°C. Thats also ok but I woudnt go further.
But be carefull, the best coolers are all very big! My V8 GTS looks out of the case....;-)
Nice build, we use the same cpu and mb, but I also have the R9 270X from msi.....With msi I never had problems!
Are you going to oc the cpu? I'm interessted in how far you can go on this cpu only with aircooling. Without watercooling for sure not much..nice build
Nice combination of CPU-GPU ;-). If you want to oc the cpu up to 4,6 to 4,7 Ghz you also can take a very good "air"cooler. I did it so at one of my builts....+1
That's a good idea, a bowser who throws cookies out of the NES. hmmmmm :D
Phu man, thanks for the flowers...;-)) Everytime i see the NES I also think of the good old days! The NES made so much fun and thats with only 1,79 Mhz!
You have to follow the link to Rev 1 of the case, ther you can see that the hard disk is under the mb. Now there is also the ssd beside....;-)
Another old case which gets a new life. Nice work!+1
Thank's for the tip, but there is so less place left that the cables can't get out somewhere...I tested it!
Maybe a little bit, but I need them for cooling....;-)
Thank you, I know the 15°C are nonsense but the internal temp sensors of the A10 only get nearly exact on higher temps...;-) @45W TDP and idle he also shows 3 to 6°C! I built an refrigerator....;-)
Thanks, but I don't use him only for playing emulators. There's also played battlefield, CoD, Anno and so on with it! ;-) The "demon" Mario I'd to to because I need the open eyes and mouth for cooling! Otherwise the A10 gets to hot on 65W TDP! That was an emergency solution......
No Project 64 runs without problems...
Thanks! Yes I know what you mean, I have seen this at amazon. Maybe I'll build this in at rev.2....
Nice build. The photos are very impressive! +1
NES, SNES, N64 and PS1 emulators are running without problems! But with PS2 or Gamecube emulators the system has his problems....;-) But the old games are the best, so its enough for me. Super Mario Kart 64 can be played with 4 players...
Yes of course, I built the "Oldschool Airflow Master" also called francencase ;-)
Thanks! So many people here are talking about insanity, I think I am! ;-)
Little bit strange configuration. Thats only my opinion...Why an A10 APU when you take 2x R7 260, an FX on AM3+ is faster and has lower price. I think the CPU's integratet graphic has no sense so? Nice case!
Sorry wrong category! Now I've seen....
I have the Cooler Master V8 GTS. My 8320 runns at 4,42GHz (max.about 4,7Ghz). In tests he is not the best but in the upper class...He is not the quietest but he has nice red leds when you like that. But be carrfull, he is a real monster, so you have to look that your case is big enouth! ;-)
Because I get them for free! ;-) At first I was thinking to build in 2 400VAC ventilators with a diameter of 48cm, but mounting them would have benn much more problem then the smaler ones. Also 400VAC not everybody has @home! ;-)
Until next weekend I'll find time to take fotos of inside!
FX 8350, very good!+1 Maybe faster RAM?
I must correct my last reply. In Idle he takes 95W and at 100% CPU load testet with prime 95 he takes 265W. Thats only the tower without monitor and the two big fans! The 2 fans take between 35 to 120W. ;-)
No I don't render videos, but sometimes I do deep sky stacking with some hundreds of photos, thats olso much work for the cpu...I'm not surre but at idle I think 130-150W and with prime95 at 100% CPU Load 280-300W, I'm coming home @ about 18:30 then I can tell you the exact power consumption...;-)
Hy, so on which clock speed is your 8320 running now and what's the Vcore? Im aksing because I also overclocked my 8320.
I have the MSI 970 Gaming in my "Oldschool Airflowmaster" and my 8320 is running @4,42Ghz stable tested with prime over 1h. I'm sure with my aircooling I can get to 4,7 to 4,8Ghz if i want. But system needs then much more power and heats very much...;-) I have spend 94€ for it and it's working good...
Temps under 60°C are no problem for the 8320. For 200Mhz more you don't have to change the vcore, so the max. Temp. will be not much more I think...But you are right, with stock cooler better get no risk!
Nice build. Big fans! I'm sure in 15 years it's a classic! ;-)
It's not only one, there are two of them...Internal pics will come in the next days! I have seen you also have big fans in your case ;-) only a little bit more understatement...;-)
The switch on the top right is for two fans which are direct above. But I don't need them for sure.
Looks very good with the lightning fans on the front and rear!
Normaly they are built in in a heatpump. You only have to look for an big Axial Fan. With the littel pen on the left side of the case I can controll the speed of the two fans....
I think 200-300Mhz also works with the stock fan. But I'm not sure I have never tested it. My 8320 runs now at 4,4Ghz but with an cooler master V8...
Nice build! I see you have an 8320. Have you overclocked him? I'm asking because I also have one...
Some people say he could fly with his fans...;-) lol
Remember its from the 90s and 15 years old...I know its not that kind of moding 99% of all others do...;-)
Frankencase thats good, some of my friends called him also Frankenstein...;-) And some people say with his fans he could fly...;-)
