Forum Topic "possible gpu or monitor problem?"

I made sure the connection was snug. I wont know if that's the problem for awhile since its very random when it does it.

8.1 is just an update from 8. you can update to 8.1 from the windows store its about a 3.5gb download if i remember correctly.

if you could afford i would suggest a 270 since they are very close to price wise of the 260x and 750ti.

those 2 cards are basically the same give or take 5-10% depending on each game. some games are made for amd others for nivida so each one has games that will be better than the other. i would go with the cheapest one

Forum Topic "1 graphic card or 2 graphic cards?"

multi-iostream 1 Build 3 points 51 months ago

the general consensus is 1 powerful card is better than 2 weaker ones. however since you are going for top of the line respectively. I would go with 2x290's they will outperform a single card.

you also need 2 of the same cards to crossfire, you cant say upgrade from a 290 to a 390 and crossfire the 390 with your 290.

the resolution you will be gaming at is a factor but unless your going with 4k you would want a 8gb card(s), 4gb is plenty for 1080-1440p.

side note and i could be 100% wrong: I believe amd is better at scaling than nivida when it comes to crossfire/sli.

Forum Topic "what you think of this for a 2000$ build"

multi-iostream 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

I agree with Lachlantula, their keyboards are just bad. I own a death-stalker and its went to crap in under a year, some of them just don't work or are stuck(yes I took key off and cleaned it and everything and pushing it down wont let it come up).

I do however love their mice, i own a death-adder and a naga. I am left handed and they are one of the few brands who offer left handed options.

Forum Topic "12k [4k Monitor x3] Gaming?"

multi-iostream 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

you could probably game like that idk what settings you would get however video card ram does not add up so you wouldn't get 12gb of vram. you would still have 4. you would want a video card with 8gb of ram for 4k.

Forum Topic "Is it really that difficult???"

multi-iostream 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

I find it annoying when they are asking about keyboards or something in the CPU section. I think you might be referring to the post who posted 2000$ build opinions in several different threads instead of just one in the pat list opinions wanted section. I am torn between that because sometimes people just don't comment on certain posts for whatever reason so i am OK with someone posting in the threads as long as they are asking about that specific item. consolidating into the 'part list opinions wanted' would be better but long as its right item in right thread nothing is wrong with it.

well I dont see any other way than to attempt to lower the price to something they will accept

Forum Topic "So close, and yet so far..."

old school runescape? i might know him lol

I would just show them a benchmark designed for high end computers on her computer or download crysis on his computer and be like try this.

Forum Topic "So close, and yet so far..."

multi-iostream 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

I feel like your father is trolling you. he seems to understand computers to a certain degree and you could go with air cooling with noctua fans to keep it silent and lower the price.

side note: I know its frustrating but a air cooled PC is better than nothing.

Forum Topic "So close, and yet so far..."

multi-iostream 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

have you tried to show them a benchmark? not a video, chart, or anything like that. use a 3dmark benchmark or heaven benchmark on her computer and show them why you want what you want.

side note: you are saying if they just pay for about 300$ you can afford the 4k build. you can easily change the psu to just as good for cheaper. drop one ssd and that Xbox controller. otherwise why buy a 70$ mouse and 130$ keyboard if your going to use a controller. I know some games are better with a controller but that build doesn't look like you plan to play old games.

just my 2 cents

little over your budget but that should play mine craft no problem. the PSU is over kill but it looks like you want her to upgrade the computer next time, so a better gpu would be a good upgrade and you wont have to switch out the PSU unless you get a high end AMD card.

the parts that are missing, from what i understand, you already have if not i will retry making a parts list. as for your question with courses i wouldnt know but helpful videos to upgrade a computer would be

linustechtips, tek syndicate, and jayztwocentz, all of them are youtubers and i think are pretty good at explaining also lynda.com is good videos on certain subjects for the STEAM field. hope this helps if not sorry, i was having a hard time understanding.

it really depends on what parts you have, a case with nice dust filters wont get dust as fast as one without but i clean my computer about once a month. i probably should clean it more often, i plan to replace the case to one with dust filters on all the intakes soon.
