This is a work of art, and I hope it gets featured.
Some pretty nice specs and good aesthetics... but... is it real?
Oof, that does look bent. Maybe there is a missing/incorrectly installed standoff, or else the shear weight of the GPU on that particular point?
Nice to see another 200GE build :)
Amazing! Really neat to see a system that makes a good pair out of the Threadripper and and the GT 710 :)
Compact, good looking, and nice deals on the parts!
I haven't had any experience with Elgato, but from what it looks like this CPU should be fine for it... Is this page what you are looking for? The CPU is well above the minimum requirements.
It was purchased on November 11th through Amazon.
If the box says "Ryzen Desktop 2000 Ready" than it should work with most 2nd Gen Ryzen CPUs, including the 2200G and 2400G. However, since the Athlon 200GE was released a bit after the 2nd gen line, there isn't really a way to tell if the BIOS is the very latest F23 version.
I did have to update the BIOS to be compatible with this CPU.
However Austin Evans used the same motherboard/CPU combo just a few weeks after I had bought my motherboard and it seems like his already had the latest update... so it might be a case of old stock lying around.
Just to be safe, though, expect that you'll need to do the update.
Alas, the board is only HDMI 1.4 :(
It's hard to get an exact read on my temps. I'm running Linux and can't seem to get any proper utilities working to actually read them... The physical touch of the cooler ranges from feeling bearly warm to "warmish"... Which means it's well below 70 degrees!
Someone got Minecraft running at well over 120 fps with low settings. https://youtu.be/ud3vodwUnsE
Though I am sure that could be brought down to 60 with some graphical elements turned on
It works flawlessly for web browsing, local video playback, and Plex streaming! I haven't tested it against any games or video editing (since it's not really made for that), but for what I have tried I am completely satisfied.
I just wanted some low rpm airflow in case things started to heat up. Granted... the passive cooler by itself gets barely even warm so in hindsight they probably weren't needed.
How is the CPU? Saw AMD came out with it a few month ago and was really intrigued by the price.
My oh my. This looks gorgeous!
Looks great! Love the simple white and blue colors.
Any reason for using the Athlon over a Ryzen processor?
Your cable management is so much better than my first computer. Congrats on your build! Looks great!
Looks great! How are your GPU temps when rendering?
The Lego guardian says he can give the power of 60fps only to the application named Firefox.
I thought the name seemed mild and benevolent... Considering that this machine won't be doing anything, I thought it seemed like a good fit.
The psu holds up just fine so far. I was a bit concerned about that too. I did a little research for the gt 710 and discovered that lots of people had success with using it in oem machines, even if the wattage was below what is recommended.
That is no Celeron D haha!
Is the original DVD drive hooked up, or does it have an old IDE connector?
Very simple, and very pretty! Nice build.
This is a nice build. How is the P400? I was actually looking at that case originally... and that exact gpu too, before it got super expensive
In the words of Roller Coaster Tycoon, this build "is really good value"!
The last picture has some bad lighting, but they are still in there. The slot covers have to be punched out on this case so it'll look kinda meh if the graphics or WiFi card ever get removed.
They are both really nice peices of hardware!
The 3 gigs of vram helps get a little extra out of todays games too.
Ubuntu Budgie. I've been keeping an eye on Solus too... Might try it in the future.
That looks very nice :)
Thanks. The modular power supply really helped with keeping things tidy.
How many intake fans do you have? I set mine at higher rpms and the temperatures are fine, but things would definitely be too hot if they were spinning slower, or if I had just a single fan.
Great, clean build :)
Were you able to get that RAM going any faster?
I found the exact same set for the price of a 2400 kit.
Very nice build!
How is that MSI GTX 1070?
Nice build btw.
Nice looking build!
Nice budget build!
How do you like the case? I haven't found any builds that use it yet.
Nice compact build!
Do the temps get toasty when doing all that rendering?
Very nice! I love the gray on the case.
