I am a newbie to networking and home servers. Started with FreeNAS as a friend recommended it to me and did the install/config for me, including plex, nextcloud and the VM. So believe me when I say that I know nothing about DIY NAS OSes, just what I have gathered from using the FreeNAS dashboard since install. The only thing that I see as a hindrance in the future is the addition of new drives to the array, which I am reading can be done on unraid (and not on a FreeNAS). The other minor thing is native 10G nic support.
The other OS I am looking into is Xpenology due to its "NAS for dummies" approach, given that its a version/fork of synology's.
Oh man! How did you even hide all those cables? looks sick af, especially the backplate. I can see myself using those fans for the next build. good stuff!
Never liked this case, buy you guys have turned me into a fan. Looking at the size of this v/s mini-itx cases, I may actually use this case for the next build.
